What is an IEP?
IEP stands for Individual Education Plan or Individualized Education Program. In short, an IEP is for students who have three needs:
- An Identified Disability as defined by education code from a School Psychologist or Licensed Educational Psychologist
- Significantly Impacted Education/Academic Needs
- Require access to a special education program in order to make progress in their education
These plans help students with disabilities make progress in their education with their disability in mind. An IEP has goals that are reviewed a few times a year and a meeting that is held at least one time a year to make sure the child is making progress in their areas of weakness.
