- How do I know if my child needs a psychoeducational evaluation?
- I have found through my career that those around the student know. Parents, teachers, family members all seem to have suspicions that something is not quite right. Maybe your child has started to have behavioral issues in school. Maybe you are watching them struggle to read when math comes so naturally for them. There are signs that families and schools all seem to identify. If you feel that you would like an answer to those questions, a psychoeducational assessment could be helpful to you.
- If you would like to know: cognitive processing strengths and weaknesses, if your child has ADHD, if your child has Autism, why your child has difficulties socially, why your child has difficulties emotionally, what your child’s cognitive functioning is, a psychoeducational evaluation can be a huge help.
- Do you take my insurance?
- At this time, I am not taking insurance. This means that my clients pay out of pocket for services rendered. Cash and checks are accepted.
- What are your rates?
- Initial Parent Consultation: $175 per 55 minute session. $100 for each additional hour.
- Rates vary based upon needs.
- Parent Requested Evaluations range: $500-$4000 (see rate sheet for more information)
- Counseling: $150-$225 per 45 minute session
- What are parent consultations?
- I have used parent consultations to help point parents in a direction. At times, my recommendation is for a psychoeducational evaluation. Other times I can provide simple behavioral steps to help families in how to work with behavioral issues. If a parent consultation moves forward into a full psycho-educational evaluation, the first consultation fee is applied towards the overall cost of the evaluation.
- What is an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)?
- An Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) provides a non-biased evaluation that can assist IEP teams in an outside perspective as to a child’s educational performance and eligibility needs. IEEs are to be conducted by educational psychologists who are independent of the school district where the child is enrolled.
- What is included in a psychoeducational evaluation?
- Needs can vary from child to child and based upon needs. However, a comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation includes:
- A review of records including educational records and medical records
- Interviews of staff working with child, parents, and the child
- Observations of the child in the assessment setting. If permitted, the child will also be observed in the educational setting
- Rating scales to indicate a number of areas of cognitive processing, social, emotional and adaptive behavior may be administered to parents, staff, and possibly the child
- Standardized direct assessment of the child to measure processing areas, cognitive abilities, and/or social-emotional abilities.
